Hello fellow readers, friends, family, and bloggers alike,
I'm back to blogging, again, but this time with another one of my episodic entries like I did many times before in the previous blog site. If any of you are still interested in how I wrote my entries, you can go to I M WHO I M which is my old blog. Note that I'm no more working on any new entries there.
Anyway, now I'm going to introduce to you a new episodic blog entries entitled "Opinion Piece". I'll be writing about any type of opinion I can think of based on life experience, common issues, and various more. I'll try not to include politics here and many other sensitive issues. Still, let me stress here that whatever opinion I wrote here is based SOLELY on my own. Therefore, if there's anything wrong I've done here, please do not hesitate to correct me because I'm still learning as well.
So, let's get to the point then..
Have you ever done a lot of things in life that you wished could change a person's life? Or was it for personal gain? You fell in love with someone, are you going to keep quiet about it, are you going to tell them, or let your actions speak for themselves? Either way, decisions and actions like these carry weight in the outcome and plays a big role depending on how big your commitment may be. It all depends on the situation that you face too.
Decision making and your actions needed can happen anywhere and anytime; be it between your friends, family, during a meeting or conference, during a war, disaster, even when playing games! Yeah, I'm serious about that last one. I mean, have you played the game called Mass Effect before? it's one of those games where each of your decision in the game determines the outcome at the end of each events and for the whole game afterwards. It is quite similar to when we face a situation in life.
Though, for some people, the actions that they have done for the people they came to care about will usually expect appreciation. No, I'm not talking about the type who wants something in return, but the ones who only wants to be appreciated. Another situation is when you voiced out an opinion to, what, create or improve something that would benefit a lot of people or the environment but nobody gives a shit about it. Sometimes we do things so that we could get recognized and better yet appreciated.
Worst still, not many people will remember the things you've done for them. Some will even take advantage of you. But what would you rather do after all this? Would you stop doing good for them, or don't give any shit about it and just do what you would do best? This is the case when it comes to decision making and actions with the people you meet in life.
A war's going on, you are to stop a missile from being launched to two important places; your military base consisting of a few hundred people, and a city consisting of thousands of people. Upon seizing the enemy base, you found their room of operations where the kill switch for the missiles are located. However, the kill switch can only stop one missile from being launched. Which one would you rather save? Kill a few to save the many?
As for me, I'm facing situations where sometimes I would want to be selfish. But for the people I care about, I never really cared about what they'll think of me, I'll be there for them whenever and in whatever capacity I can.
At the end of the day, sometimes, it's not about what the outcome might be that matters, but the decision you have made. Bad calls happen, and we'll have to live with the consequences. Still, sometimes we did it because we thought it was for the best. Some right decisions aren't always the pretty one too.
Congratulations Zico on the new blog and thanks for sharing your opinion on Actions and Choices .
ReplyDeleteInterestingly , both modern science (in Newtonian Physics) and ancient wisdom concur on one law : the Law of Cause and Effect or popularly known as Law of Karma ie for every action there is an effect ( or reaction ) . Also in the Bible was written : As you sow , so shall you reap ( Galatians 6:17 ) .
CHOICES are made in the MIND and said with the MOUTH and expressed by the physical body in ACTIONS .
What is Good and what is Bad ? This question has oocupied human beings since time immemorial , whether a common thief or a great philosopher . I don't have the answer though i have an opinion .
Opinion :Train your MIND to make GOOD CHOICES followed by GOOD ACTIONS which will benefit oneself and others . How to train the MIND ? Use Meditation . How to decide WHAT IS good or BAD ? Use the commandments given by one's RELIGION . If one does not have a religion , may use universal guidelines like The 10 Shaolin Laws . If one is an atheist and does not believe in Shaolin , just follow the civil LAW in one's country .
As Zico said, whatever choices made and actions done ,we have to live with the consequences . A bad decision is better then living life paralysed in indecisiveness . A fool repeats the same mistake , a repentant stands up again after falling and learns from his/her mistake . A wise person lives according to the Will of Heaven and does not worry about right or wrong :)
Looking forward to Isaac @ Zico's next bloginstalment !
