KL PART 3: Break the Silence

WORDS FROM THE AUTHOR: "after more than a month keeping myself silent from blogging. now I'm back! sorry guys.. been busy lately with college.. you know, preparing for time-tests and semester exams, you get the drill. well, here's the continuation of the KL PART series; Break the Silence."

End of a Semester
finally, my 1st semester has ended.. well, it ended on 17th of November. and then I had a short semester break. well, it wasn't actually short.. but TOO SHORT. I mean, it's only 1 day of holiday, plus Saturday and Sunday which makes it only 3 days. anyways, for the whole time in semester 1, slowly I've become closer to my classmates. relatively, my class is a very small group consisting of only 9 people (now 10) and I spent most of half the time of semester 1 with them; went out for lunch, loitering, etc. meanwhile, I still keep close with the other FIS (Foundation in Science) peeps from other intakes (April and June).

most of my time, I would just be back at hostel, opening up my books and start studying. hell, exam week was kinda the worst. for the whole week, I would have to study from 10pm-3am every day! imagine how our class was pushed to the limit because we are without a study week (other intakes have a study week except for September intake). therefore, we need to sacrifice our sleeping time for good exam performance.. well, that's for me at least. luckily it's not like my high school days where I have to study for 10 subjects whereas in my current college, there's only 6 subjects and 4 are needed to score (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Maths). assignments were interesting and fun to do.. I mean, it's kinda much more fun to do then when it was back at school.. *I miss school*

although I nearly went crazy with the lack of sleep for the whole week, my efforts kinda payed off though I hoped for a better result. the following was what I scored for the overall results of my semester exams (A is the highest grade):

BIOLOGY: A
CHEMISTRY: A-
PHYSICS: A
MATHEMATICS: A
ENGLISH: A-
I.T.: B+

I was surprised with the result as it was my 1st time scoring As for all science subjects in a row. I couldn't have done it if it wasn't for God's help. however, it spurs me to continue this fine performance and do better for the next semester.

Fly Away Bernoulli!
after the 1st semester ended, it was time to prepare for the DIO (Do it Ourselves) FIS Science Fair which was held on the 25th of November. all of the FIS students from all intakes participated in the science fair as this was accounted for marks for course works (marks for Semester 1 for September intakes and Semester 2 for April and June intakes). what's really interesting about this science fair was, every group has their own bright and interesting idea. as much as the fun was there during preparation, there were also hardships on the road to make the science fair a success. like, it wasn't easy for some groups to find materials for their project. every group has to make 2 science projects; one is physics related and another chemistry related. all intakes were divided into many groups except for the September intake (the whole class is a group together). we had our own hardship as well, while the Chemistry corner of our group was working well, the Physics corner was having a problem.. 4 ideas was put into account (Homemade Oven, Flying Orb toy, and 2 others) but I have to reject them all (I was group leader) due to materials being expensive or unable to obtain easily. finally the 5th idea was proposed; the project was based on the Bernoulli's Principle.. you know, the higher the speed of the fluid flowing through a medium, the pressure in the medium decreases.. never mind. in short, the experiment was about which shape of aerofoil (made for wings of planes) works the best according to the Bernoulli's Principle.
presenting in front of VIPs; man in white is Mr. Kannan, CEO of Nirwana

on the day of the science fair, it was one of the most memorable days I've had in college. everybody was in tension at first as everyone wanted to make this science fair a success (first science fair held in Nirwana College) and each group will be judged by 4 different judges. as the presenter of my group in the Physics corner along with another friend of mine, I was kind of surprised with my presentation abilities as I was able to talk well in front of the 1st line of visitors who were VIPs. I was very nervous at the start, but as I opened my mouth, it was all smooth sailing. at the end of the day, overall, the science fair was a total success and praises were given to us for being creative in all of our work. personally, I would like to thank the 2 special people behind the science fair success, they are Ms.Kalai and Ms.Salaija who are the Chemistry and Physics lecturer respectively. without them, there will be no success in this. everybody did well and according to the judges, they say all of us were winners as the points allocated for every group were all close to each other.. but only 4 were picked to receive the prize. to my delight, my group (Physics experiment) was picked as one of the winners! our group wouldn't have done well if it wasn't for the great cooperation shown by all of the members of the September intake.

Exploring Kuala Lumpur and Meeting Old Faces
Pavilion preparing for Christmas
okay, enough of college.. *giggle*..
for the 3 months I've been living in KL, there's no way I would just stay at hostel and study. that would only make me crazy. okay, so sometimes I would walk around in KL with friends to buy stuffs, get haircuts, and also watch movies. on Sundays, I often go to church to pray to God Almighty for all the goodness He has given us. unlike at home in Sabah, I'm much more free to go anywhere I like at anytime and I took this opportunity to learn to be independent and explore KL together with friends or sometimes by myself.

recently, the only old buddy I've met during the whole time I was in KL was meeting Zachary, whom was my badminton partner in Form 5 and rigged home silver for school in boys doubles. since we've not seen each other for months, we can see lots of difference in each other.. he's gotten gayer.. LOL kidding. I wonder what happened to others.. I'm pretty sure I'll meet them one day, one by one.

Smashing in the Arena
so, basically I'm still playing badminton even in KL to maintain my talents. though, I'm definitely not as good as I was before anymore; I'm much slower, lower fitness, slower on court and less power driven strokes. I'm currently playing badminton at the Lee Chong Wei Sports Arena. it was such a BIG place! not only there's lots of badminton courts, there were also multiple futsal courts, yoga, table tennis, and many more!

oh well, that's kinda all for now about what's in Part 3 of life in Kuala Lumpur. there's still lots to write about but I'll keep it for the time being. like, I would like to write about Christmas but I think I'll save that for a very special blog post later on. Christmas is so around the corner and I can't wait for it!! till the next blog post and more to come, tata!

just a few more words, Part 4 is coming and it will be the final of the KL Part series.. a new series of my life will start soon after, with it's main heading entitled "KURSK" which covers my life and experience while studying in Russia. and yes, I will be flying to Russia to take my medical degree shortly after finishing my foundation. will be flying in early March. more details about that later.. have a nice December month everyone!

p/s: saving the Christmas wish for now.. so, Happy December!

  4. As expected, good results. Science is fun and its everywhere in real life applications. But that is only one aspect. We are made of 3 components, Spirit, Mind and Physical(body).
Take care of all three aspects and you will have a balanced life. Keep well.

    Kind Regards,
